Reflecting on 2014

2014 can only be described as exhilarating for Xiaolin!

This year was incredibly busy for us, as we participated in nearly one fashion show a month! Xiaolin appeared in a total of 10 shows ranging from local venues to as far away as Oxfordshire, England. The Xiaolin team worked with more than 50 lovely models of over a dozen nationalities, each of whom helped showcase the uniqueness of Xiaolin’s designs through their own diversity.

Another collection of highlights was the honor of having my designs featured on the cover of three separate magazines, both in print and online. Additional media exposure included appearing on Buzzfeed, Photo Vogue and Vogue.com, plus various other news sources including M Magazine which reaches 40,000 homes and businesses monthly in metropolitan Milwaukee area.
Every Xiaolin piece is an original design, and is meticulously hand-crafted from sketch to finish by me. This year I personally made a dozen high fashion looks to display on the runway using 8 types of feathers, real iridescent jewel beetle wings, and an exotic array of silks. I created a grand total of 48 Xiaolin garments in 12 months, including both boutique items and custom garments. As always, all materials used in the creation of Xiaolin garments were sourced cruelty-free.

For me, reflections on 2014 are evocative of inspiration and creativity. My aspirations are higher than ever and to accomodate that interest, I have already begun a new series of sketches, which I’m bursting with excitement to show to all of you. Thanks to everyone who has supported me throughout the year; I look forward to exploring 2015 with all of you!
